In the AL, Chicago has once again managed to
crawl past New York into first place and currently has a 1.5 games lead. These
two have a three-game set in Chicago at the end of this coming week, so we can
expect some fireworks from there. Cleveland has won nine of their last ten
games, but so has Chicago, so making progress has been tough. Cleveland did
take a few games from New York this past week though, so hope spring eternal.
Recent acquisitions Duster Mails and Joe Sewell have already made an impact,
but it might be too little too late.

In the NL, the fireworks occurred late in the week when Boston (NL) ended the week by sweeping a doubleheader at home versus league-leading Cincinnati and throwing the NL leadership into chaos. The Reds still have a 0.5 games lead over second place Brooklyn while New York (NL) is still lurking, just 1.0 games behind in third. Cincinnati will move into Philadelphia to start the week, but then they end this week in Brooklyn and then they roll into New York after that. All three of these teams will have some say-so on how the NL will turn out, because after that New York and Brooklyn have five games remaining to play face-to-face.
I wasn't anticipating this season having an
ending like this, and of course, the Black Sox scandal stuff is just getting
ready to burst, so there is plenty of excitement yet to come, so let's go play!
